The woman refused to be his mistress and reportedly committed suicide by taking poison inside a cave at the place.

Bhim Singh, who did not accept her sacrifice, set her on fire to ensure she would never walk again and forced his prisoners to watch her. The burning body was found hanging at the entrance of the cave some years after. Another reason why this place is considered haunted is that there are still parts of the fort which have not been restored.

Kuldhara is the village that’s famous for being one of the most haunted places in India. You can’t take a stroll on the street without a ghost sighting. The complex has around 800 houses and numerous temples. It’s also known for the village’s Goddess Chhinnamasta, who tortures her men by chopping off their heads and driving away the rest of the body. As per popular beliefs, if you hear the sound of the cowbell being played in the temple, one should stand in the moonlight near the temple at midnight, and you can see the haunting face of the Goddess. Women are supposed to kiss the forehead of the Goddess before this. However, if you don’t, your fate is sealed.
