About Igatpuri 

Igatpuri is a city located in Nashik district of Maharashtra. 1) Tringalwadi Fort

Tringalwadi Fort is a historic monument in Igatpuri, Maharashtra, India. It is situated atop a hill overlooking the town. The fort has a five-tiered structure and was constructed by Balaji Baji Rao as part of a series of military defenses in the region during 1810–1812. The fort has been protected as a heritage monument.

2) Vihigaon Waterfall

The Vihigaon water fall is situated at a distance of 15 km from Igatpuri and 65 km from Solapur. It is located on the way to Latur, about half-way between Solapur and Igatpuri. The water falls from a height of about 300 feet (91 m). The waterfall is visited by thousands of tourists every year.

3) Kalsubai Peak

Kalsubai Peak is located at a distance of 10 km from Igatpuri and 120 km from Solapur. It is at a height of 2,047 metres (6506 feet). Each year the peak attracts many tourists. The water resources in the form of lakes, ponds and waterfalls on the way make the trekking more enjoyable.  Now this place is increasing the rank in the list of Igatpuri Famous Places.

4) Camel Valley

Camel Valley is a picnic point located at a distance of 18 km from Igatpuri and 120 km from Solapur. A wide, natural amphitheater is surrounded by green trees on three sides. The valley forms the right bank of the Wayalgaon Dam which has a crocodile breeding center nearby.

5) Bhatsa River Valley

Bhatsa River Valley is situated at a distance of 18 km from Igatpuri and 120 km from Solapur. The valley is located on the highway road between Igatpuri and Solapur. The valley, which has a number of waterfalls, can be reached by trekking at an air-conditioned bus or car. Trees, especially deodars (deodar cedar), firs, oaks and magnolias grow in profusion in the valley.

6) Darna Dam

Darna Dam is situated at a distance of 15 km from Igatpuri and 65 kilometres from Solapur. It is one of the major picnic spots in Igatpuri and it lies close to the Vihigaon Waterfall. Many people visit the dam site every day.

7) Talegaon Lake

Talegaon Lake is situated at a distance of 17 km from Igatpuri and 120 kilometres from Solapur. It is one of the major picnic spots in Igatpuri and it lies close to the Vihigaon Waterfall. It is also known as “Talegaon kunda” or “Malganga Kol”. The lake lies close to Talegaon village on the Solapur Road and is surrounded by hills on all sides except the southwest.

8) Vaitarna Dam

Vaitarna Dam is a large reservoir in the Western Ghats range that is formed by Pravara and Vaitarna rivers, near Igatpuri in the Nashik district of Maharashtra.The Vaitarna Dam, with a length of 2.8 km and height of 45 metres, was constructed between 1929 and 1963 for irrigating an area nearly 3 times its capacity.

9) Karoli Ghat

Karoli Ghat is situated at a distance of 8 km from Igatpuri and 65 km from Solapur. It lies on the Solapur Hill Road and is one of the major picnic spots in Igatpuri. It lies close to the Talegaon Dam and has great scenic beauty. The ghat is also named “Gopani Ghat” as it falls from a height of 517 meters (1719 feet). The ghat is used by devotees for prayers.

10) Madangad Mountain

Madangad Mountain is situated at a distance of 6 km from Igatpuri. It lies on the Solapur Hill Road. The mountain consists mainly of sandstones and is denuded due to erosion. It comprises the popular Madangad Shivling, which is visited by hundreds of people every year.

11) Avandha Fort

Avandha Fort is a hilltop fort in Igatpuri, Maharashtra. The fort was built by Raja Bhagwant Singh Panwar of the Panwar dynasty in 1750, and was historically significant for being located on an elephant route from Pune to Nashik via Igatpuri. The Avandha Fort is one of the best preserved forts in Maharashtra. The fort has been extensively used for shooting Hindi movies. It is also a popular spot for paragliding.

12) Dhammagiri

Dhammagiri is one of the most beautiful places in the world. If you’re looking for a surreal and peaceful experience, this is it. It is located at an altitude of around 5500 feet, amidst lush green forests and towering mountains- unspoilt nature at its best! The entrance to this great place is via a winding road which takes you through forest patches and open fields before finally reaching Dhammagiri. The place is beautiful- the greenery, the trees, the lake, and of course the great outdoors!

13) Amruteshwar Temple

Amruteshwar Temple is a temple dedicated to the god Shiva. It is located about 7 km from Igatpuri, a small town in Maharashtra, India. The temple attracts thousands of pilgrims every day and is one of the must-visit locations in that area. There are two famous ghats, locally known as “Bhairavghad” and “Ambabai ghat”. This scenery is the main attraction of Amruteshwar. Most of the tourists come to Amruteshwar during the tourist season. But throughout the year, a fair is held on Sundays, which attracts a lot of devotees.

14) Vipassana International Academy

Vipassana International Academy is a Buddhist monastery in the Himalayan foothills of Igatpuri, India. It is near the ancient centre of education in India, Gayatri PrajnaParamita. The monastery consists of 20 small huts. Every evening between 5 and 6pm, we sit cross-legged on plank beds that line the walls and practice meditation with a few others nearby. The academy is also home to the Metta Development Foundation, an NGO dedicated to poverty alleviation across India with a special focus on Mumbai.

15) Ghatandevi Mandir

Ghatandevi Mandir is one of the most famous and popular temples in the town. This temple was constructed by Maharaja Pratapsingh, who is known to be a freedom fighter in igatpuri. The construction of this temple started on 3rd December 1847 and completed in about 60 days later. The main idol of the deity was consecrated on 3rd March 1848 and installed with grandeur on 8th April 1848. Maharaja Pratapsingh built a palace in front of the temple, which is now known as Ghaatandevi by locals.
