City Palace, Jaipur Overview

The City Palace was occupied by the Maharaja of Jaipur until the capital moved to New Delhi. This Palace continues to be a major tourist attraction and notable landmark in Jaipur and is open for visitors from 10:00 am-5:30 pm.
The Palace is a palace, museum, and tourist attraction located on the southern edge of Jaipur. It is also known as the Badal Mahal or the City Palace of Jaipur or simply as Jaigarh in English. The palace was built by Sawai Madho Singh II and is situated in what was once the “Jaipur” village (later upgraded to an independent town, Jawahar Nagar).

The city palace has been the residence of the royal family of Jaipur. The royal family continues to live in the palace and is open for public viewing. Entry tickets are available at main gate and it includes an audio guide tour inside palace that explains the history and significance of architecture in English and Hindi.
