The Film City of Mumbai has 17 sound stages, which are used by Indian film industry giants like Yash Raj Films, Karan Johar Films, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, and Fox Star Studios on a daily basis. The state-of-the-art infrastructure that has been built for these studios includes a 24-hour electricity supply and a year-round temperate climate.
Film City Mumbai is also a major tourist attraction, attracting over 200,000 visitors annually.
The Film City of Mumbai has been constructed under the guidelines laid down by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the Government of India to cater to the needs of Indian cinema. The studios have been built on 1,90,000 square yards (1.5 million square feet) of land at Goregaon-Mulund Link Road in suburban Mumbai. The studios are equipped with all modern facilities including air-conditioning and fire brigade service.
