The Gujarat Science City is located in Gandhinagar, the state capital of Gujarat. It is spread over an area of 1,000 acres and has a resident population of 50,000. The main aim of this project is to provide adequate and modern facilities to students so as to transform them into highly skilled professionals. It also aims at providing working space to scientists from various fields. Apart from these, it will also have commercial and industrial units for various purposes such as food processing and vehicle assembling among others.
The project was conceptualized in the year 2005, with a target completion date of 2010. However, due to frequent delays and pausing of construction activities, it is now expected to be completed by the year 2020.
