History of Jaisalmer

The word ‘Jaisalmer’ comes from two words Jai and Salim Singh, who was a Rajput Ruler.

The average temperature of the city is 31.8 °C, with maximum and minimum temperatures of 44.6 °C and 10.3 °C respectively. Sunshine is abundant in the region because of its location in Thar Desert. Jaisalmer receives a scanty rainfall of 20 millimeters (0.8 in) annually. The maximum rainfall occurs in the months of June, July, August and October.
