The Statue of Unity, located in the Narmada district in Gujarat, is an under-construction statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was one of the founding fathers of modern India. The project aims at paying a tribute to his efforts towards unification of the country. It will be built on an island near Sadhu Bet, 3.2 km away from Sardar Sarovar Dam and 22 km away from Kevadia Colony. It will be 152m height and will have a life-sized statue of Sardar Patel. It is expected to be completed by 2022.
The main aim of the project is to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution to the cause of Indian independence by building a large statue for him on the banks of Narmada River.
