If you’re traveling to Chennai and you’re looking for a good place to eat, look no further. I’ve compiled a list from my personal experience of the best restaurants in Chennai.

Some of these restaurants are well-known while others are less popular, but they all have one thing in common: they serve tasty food! If you want somewhere close to the airport or if you want a vegetarian restaurant, then these eateries will be perfect for your needs.

Flying Elephant is located in the Guindy area, which is a good place to stay. If you want good food and a nice atmosphere, this is the place for you. It’s not very expensive, but it is expensive enough to get some amazing food. Flying elephant serves traditional Indian food like North Indian and South Indian cuisine. Some of the dishes are quite unique and I recommend ordering a set with wine or beer if you have time.

Peshawri is one of the best restaurants in Chennai located at Guindy. There’s nothing like having a hot and spicy meal in the middle of winter. The restaurant serves traditional Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu food. In fact, Peshawri serves authentic cuisine from South India which can be a tad expensive since it’s located in the Guindy area.

  1. Kaidi Kitchen, Mylapore Chennai

Kaidi kitchen is located in Mylapore. Mylapore may be a bit far from the city, but if you like authentic South Indian food then this is the place for you. The restaurant serves delicious food and it’s definitely worth a visit. Kaidi Kitchen serves authentic South Indian cuisine and it even has an outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice.

  1. Madras Pavilion, Guindy Chennai

Madras Pavilion is located on the Guindy main road. If you’re looking for a traditional place to eat in Chennai, then Madras Pavilion is a good choice. It serves authentic Tamil food like idli, vadai and sambar. The restaurant is frequented by locals since it has a nice ambiance and serves great food.

  1. Writer’s Cafe, Peter’s Road Chennai

Writer’s Cafe is located in Peter’s Road, which is a bit far from the city. But it’s worth the trip if you’re looking for a place to eat in Chennai. The restaurant serves good food and serves South Indian cuisine like idli, vadai and sambar. The atmosphere is great, so if this place suits your needs then definitely make a booking for lunch or dinner.

However, due to the location, it may cost a little more than other restaurants. The ambiance is great and I recommend coming here for dinner.

Robot restaurant is located in Chennai. The restaurant serves South Indian and Chinese cuisine. It’s a very popular place to eat and it’s one of the best places to eat in Chennai. If you want good food and an experience unlike any other, then Robot Restaurant is definitely a must-visit for you.

Raintree is located on Anna Salai. It’s one of the best places to eat in Chennai and it serves traditional South Indian cuisine. Raintree has a good ambiance and it also serves Chinese and North Indian food. Some of the dishes here are quite unique, so make sure you visit this restaurant while you’re in Chennai.

Pan Asia is located in the Guindy area. It’s a popular restaurant which serves wonderful food, so it’s one of the best places to eat in Chennai.

Guests can enjoy Asian food at Pan Asian and some of the dishes served here are Singapore Chilli Crab, Thai Mixed Veg, Singapore Rice Noodles, Steamed Fish with Beancurd Skin and many others.

  1. The Crown, T Nagar Chennai

The Crown is located on T. Nagar. It’s the last restaurant on this list and it’s one of the best places to eat in Chennai. Chennai is known for its culture and The Crown serves wonderful Indian food. The place also has a good ambiance and some of the interesting dishes here are Deep Fried Prawns, Mutton Rogan Josh, Vegetarian Korma, Butter Chicken, Butter Garlic Prawns, Fish Fry and many more.

Final Words

Chennai has a variety of restaurant and cuisines that can be experienced. The best thing about being in Chennai is you are never bored because there are restaurants that serve both Chinese, Malayali and South Indian cuisines. Due to the high rate of immigration in Chennai, there’s also a good number of restaurants serving authentic Kolkata, Hong Kong and Beijing cuisine. There are countless places to eat here, so pick the one that suits your hunger.
