Best Time To Visit Mount Abu

Mount Abu is a hill station and part of the Aravalli Range in Rajasthan. There, you will find some of the most beautiful sightseeing in all of India.

Mount Abu is situated at an average altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level and lies between two arid ranges, the Aravalli to the north and east and the Mewar region to its south. The city can be reached by both train or bus from major nearby cities like Jaipur and Udaipur.

Shri Raghunath Ji Temple

This is an architectural marvel, built in 1723 by Shri Raghunathji, a Hindu saint. There is marble and sandstone craftsmanship. It has a large gopuram (temple tower) and an intricate carvings of Hindu gods and goddesses on the walls of the temple. The inner walls or mandapas have beautifully decorated pillars, which are hand made with sandstone blocks.

Nakki Lake

This is the main tourist attraction. It is said that this lake was built by the Pandavas in purview of their one year stay in Mount Abu, during the time of their exile. You can even see gabions and a small bridge, which were constructed by the British during colonial times.

Mata Temple

This temple was built in respect of a Muslim saint named “Mata Bhajan”, who died here while on pilgrimage. The temple serves as a meeting point for Hindu and Muslim devotees.

Hanuman Temple

Hanuman means the “charioteer of Rama”, which is what he is most famous for. It is said that Hanuman stopped the demon king Ravana’s chariot, which was headed towards Mount Abu, by lying before it. This is the main tourist attraction here, as there are a few statues of Hanuman to see.

Achalgarh Fort

This is the perfect place to go for a little trekking, as it is located atop a hill. The fort offers beautiful views of Mount Abu and the surrounding area.

Nathdwara Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and his consort Rukmani. There are also many other temples dedicated to other Hindu gods and goddesses. A temple to Lord Shiva at this location is over 1000 years old.

Mount Abu in Summer Season : April to June

Summer season is the peak season of Mount Abu. It is the best time for a visit here. The weather is pleasant then, and it is also the time when tourists from other states like Delhi and Chennai come here.
