1) Vivekananda Rock Memorial

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is one of the major attractions in Kanyakumari. The rock is situated at a distance of about 500 meters and overlooks the Bay of Bengal. The memorial was built in the memory of Swami Vivekananda, who visited this place in 1895 while returning after attending the first Parliament of World Religions held at Chicago and popularized Hinduism. The memorial holds a bronze bust statue of Vivekananda, made by Dr. Nand Lal Bose. and this place comes first in the list of Kanyakumari Famous Places.

2) Thiruvalluvar Statue

Thiruvalluvar Statue is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Kanyakumari. Also known as Valluvar Kottam, it is a statue of the famous Tamil poet, saint and philosopher Thiruvalluvar. There is a small museum built adjacent to the statue. The museum displays almost all of his well known work in Tamil namely Thirukkural in both English as well as Tamil language. It is situated near to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

3) Our Lady of Ransom Church

Our Lady of Ransom Church is a Roman Catholic Church in Kanyakumari. The church is built in the Gothic style of architecture and has a capacity to accommodate about 2000 people. It was constructed by the Portuguese but was destroyed by the sea during the tsunami in 2004 and was rebuilt later on. It is located at a distance of about 150 kilometers from Tuticorin Airport, which is located near to Kanyakumari.

4) Mayapuri Wax Museum

Mayapuri Wax Museum is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Kanyakumari. It is situated near to the Anna Nagar Junction, which is one of the busiest and most popular railway junction situated on NH 49 in Tamil Nadu. It exhibits wax statues of various famous people and politicians from previous centuries. There are thousands of different wax statues on display in this museum that show almost everything that is available and how people used to represent themselves before the advent of photography in India.

5) Bharat Mata Temple

The temple is dedicated to the mother goddess and is situated in the heart of Kanyakumari. It was built in 1975 and is considered as one of the main attractions to visit in Kanyakumari. The temple has a huge statue of goddess Durga. Also, there are some other statues here like Yamuna, Saraswathi and Lakshmi. 6) Kanyakumari Beach

Kanyakumari Beach is another beautiful place to visit in Kanyakumari. The beach lies at the southern tip of Kanyakumari Island, which is one of the most important islands in the town. 7) Mathoor Hanging Bridge

Mathoor Hanging Bridge is also one of the major tourist attractions in Kanyakumari. It is a small pedestrian bridge built on the top of a hill that sits about 30 KM away from the mainland. The name of this place is derived from the fact that there are three confluences of the rivers- Penna, Thamiraparani and Manimuthar. Since all these rivers start from different directions and then merge with each other, it is called as Triveni Sangam.

9) Bhagavathy Amman Temple

Bhagavathy Amman Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kanyakumari and is dedicated to Mother Goddess. It is also known as Muthumari Amman, who is believed to be a form of Shakti. The goddess is worshipped as the protector of youth and fertility. The temple has a large statue of goddess at the entrance and a small pond located inside the temple complex. The temple can be found at a distance of about 4km from Triveni Sangam.

Chitharal Jain Monuments is a place to visit in Kanyakumari. This place is a pilgrimage center for Jain and has some of the most important monuments in Kanyakumari. It is located at a distance of about 50km from Tuticorin Airport.

11) Lord Subramanya Temple

Lord Subramanya Temple is another major attraction in Kanyakumari. The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan, the sixth incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is believed that his wife Goddess Valli worshipped this place before marrying him. The temple has a very long history and is believed to be dated back to at least 1000 years.

12) Vattakottai Fort

Vattakottai Fort is one of the most imposing and important historical monuments in Kanyakumari. Built by the Nawab of Arcot, this fort is located about 45km from Thoothukudi Airport. The fort has a lot of historical importance as it was once captured by the French Army and then retaken by the British Major General Abercrombie in 1798. This fort also saw a lot of action during the Battle with Tippu Sultan in 1790s.

13) Gandhi Mandapam

Gandhi Mandapam is a major tourist spot in Kanyakumari. It is situated near to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and is built as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the great freedom fighter of India. The mandapam has a large statue of Mahatma Gandhi with his hands stretched out in prayer.

View Tower is a tourist spot in Kanyakumari. It is located at a distance of about 5 km from the Vivekananda Rock memorial. It is located at a distance of about 10 km from Vivekananda Rock Memorial and was built by the Nawab of Arcot, Abdulla Bahadur Shah Ghazi during the latter half of 18th century. The palace has a beautiful garden and many pavilions inside the complex.
