Coorg Best Time to Visit

Coorg is the fourth-largest district in the state of Karnataka and a part of southwestern India. It has a pleasant climate, lots of water, forests and hills. The vegetation in this area is mostly dry deciduous forest on a slope with an elevation ranging between 500 to 1,500 meters above sea level.

Coorg is generally considered as a place to visit during winters as well because it offers peaceful environment crowded with few tourists. 

Coorg Weather in Summer(April to June)

Coorg has moderate summer and the temperatures are in between 25 and 36 degree Celsius. The region experiences a lot of rains especially between the months of May and June. 

Coorg Weather in Monsoon (July To August)

This is the best time to visit Coorg, even though it is the rainy season. The rainfall experienced in this region is not very heavy. This comes under monsoon category with the rainfall between 100 to 250 mm all over the month.

Coorg Weather in Winter(October to February)

This is when you can visit Coorg for its cool climate, pleasant weather and clear skies. The temperatures experienced during this season is mostly 15 degree Celsius and it does not exceed 20 degree Celsius most of the time. The terrain of Coorg is mostly hilly and the average rainfall experienced in this region is between 100 to 250 mm.

In past few years, Coorg tourism has seen an exponential growth in the number of tourists visiting Coorg each year. 

The best time to visit this place is from October to March because the biggest peak of tourists visit this place during the winter season. Coorg does not have the infrastructure where all these tourists can stay during their visit.

Spread over an area of 22.50 km, this sanctuary is visited by a lot of tourists during their visit to Coorg. There are lots of things for the visitors to see and do in this wildlife sanctuary.

The toy train runs from Mysore to Ooty via Coonoor and is a treat for anyone who loves nature, nature sounds and beautiful landscapes.

This is the largest falls in India and is a popular tourist destination for visitors from all around the world. It is located in Shivamogga District of Karnataka.

A sandalwood tree is a must-see if you are visiting Coorg because it symbolizes the place and the culture of this region. These trees are usually found near coffee plantations.

  1. Sheesh Mahal Palace, Coorg

The Sheesh Mahal is a place of great architectural beauty and it is an important tourist spot in Coorg. The palace was built during the Mysore Kingdom by Gowda Raja and his queen Gowri Lakshmi Devi.
